More than 90 people have registered so far for a function which will start week-long centenary celebrations for Alliance Group’s Pukeuri meat plant.
Alliance Group communications manager Nicole Taylor said the celebrations will start with a meet and greet evening on Friday, February 28, for past and present employees.
“We’ve got a number in the mid-90s (registered) and we’re hoping to double that,” she said.
A busy programme of events are planned to mark the centenary. On Saturday, March 1, a history exhibition will open at the North Otago Museum which will feature pictures, stories and equipment displays.
That evening the official centenary dinner will be held at the Loan and Merc, 14 Harbour St.
Also at this function a book will be launched written by Jacquie Webby, titled The Works, Celebrating 100 Years of Pukeuri Plant, The People and Progress.
On Wednesday, March 5, there will be the official opening of centenary entrance gates and a plaque unveiling at the main entrance to the Pukeuri plant.
On Sunday a centenary golf tournament will be held for past and present employees at the Lower Waitaki Golf Club.
