Oamaru residents can expect to see more acts at the 77th Oamaru Performing Arts Festival being held at the Oamaru Opera House this weekend.
The festival will feature performances from competitors of all age groups from around the South Island over three days.
Publicity officer Rosemary Zwies, who has been involved with the festival for 11 years, said she was especially looking forward to seeing the young performers, who get more confident each year.
“It gives them so much more personality and confidence,” she said.
“There’s great talent that gets out there on the stage.”
There have been more entries than last year and there would be a lot more Highland dancing, she said.
The festival will feature 218 competitors performing 886 acts including vocal, piano and dancing pieces, Mrs Zwies said.
The festival will be held at the Oamaru Opera House on Friday, May 16, from 5pm-9.30pm, Saturday, May 17, from 8am-9.30pm and Sunday, May 18, from 8am-7.30pm.
Entry available at the door for $2.
