Oamaru residents have an exciting few months of music, cabaret, comedians and more coming up.
The Oamaru Opera House will host acts such as Paul Ubana Jones, In Flagrant and ABBA.
Oamaru Opera House marketing manager Kiriana Glasson said there were a lot of shows they had organised for March and April that were just being finalised.
“It’s going to be really busy.”
Musician Paul Ubana Jones would be playing at the Oamaru Opera House this Saturday.
The musician, who had been touring for 25 years, played in Oamaru last year and is a beautiful singer, Ms Glasson said.
“He just does gorgeous acoustics.”
They were hoping to trial more foyer concerts this year – they are normally free or cheap and the bar is open, she said.
“It’s a great way to showcase local musicians.”
The show that Ms Glasson was most looking forward to was In Flagrante – a modern take on Burlesque revival.
It would be an “awesome show” but the subject might be a bit touchy here in Oamaru, she said.
“A lot of people think that it’s a disgusting portrayal of women but it’s actually quite a powerful piece about womens position in society.”
There were also three circus cabaret dance shows coming up in March and April.
Paul Ubana Jones will be playing at the Oamaru Opera House at 8pm in the Inkbox Theatre – tickets are on sale for $25.
