Oamaru artist Philina den Dulk held a unique art auction on Tuesday by selling one work every hour for 10 hours on Facebook.
The artist said the auction had been successful and she had sold five of the 10 works available.
She decided to hold the auction to let more people know about her art, as auctions had proven popular when used by other artists.
“The reason I thought about doing it was because I do have a lot of people who have met me who don’t realise I paint.
“It’s really about getting it out there.
“I also love to make art affordbale to people who might not normally be able to afford it.”
Den Dulk said she sent a number of her works to North Island galleries and to Queenstown, but not many people in Oamaru were aware of what she did.
She said she was also considering creating an Oamaru-based pop-up shop at the end of the year.
