Oamaru’s budding young guitarist, Joseph Balfe, will be performing for the first time at the Oamaru Opera House this weekend.
The 15-year-old will be holding a finger-style guitar concert with special guest Zoe Scott on Sunday, November 23 at 7.30pm.
Joseph said he was a bit nervous about performing in the highly esteemed venue but also excited.
He hopes to use the concert to raise funds for the Tamworth Country Music Festival in Australia in January.
He would also like to sell a few copies of his first album “Highly Strung”, which was released about a month-and-a-half ago, at the concert, Joseph said.
The 15-year-old will be performing several of his own songs as well as some covers.
Joseph is currently undertaking NCEA Level One exams and hopes to create another album at the end of next year.
Tickets for the performance are available from the Oamaru Opera House, the Oamaru i-SITE and www.ticketdirect.co.nz.
