Local RSA liquidation not affecting WW1, Anzac services

The North Otago RSA is going into liquidation, but Anzac Day services and World War 1 commemorations will continue.

Following an announcement made on Thursday night that the North Otago RSA has been put into liquidation, the Waitaki District Council will now work with Palmerston/Waihemo, the Upper Waitaki RSA and a North Otago RSA committee in relation to Anzac Day and World War 1 commemorations.

Eighteen months ago the RSA hit financial strife and ever since then they have been fighting to get out of it. While they made some improvements a lack of people using the facility in winter has resulted in the members deciding liquidation is the best option, with the council now taking ownership of the building.
