The Oamaru Mail will move premises over the weekend of October 11-12.
General manager Tony Nielsen said plans to lease the old Trustpower Building in Upper Thames St were close to finalisation and this would be the new home of the Oamaru Mail.
“The shift will be done over the weekend of October 11 to 12,” he said.
“We will be working closely with our contractors, including IT specialists and builders, to ensure the transition goes as smoothly as possible,” he said.
“We will be open for business at our new location from October 14 and will also be producing a paper on Monday, which will be delivered as usual.”
The relocation has been necessitated by plans to redevelop the present site, which is owned by John Brown, of JBL Properties.
Mr Brown said the building had a five per cent earthquake rating and this had “pushed redevelopment plans along”.
He yesterday confirmed the new tenant would be BNZ.
“I will be redeveloping the site and will be in a position to confirm future plans next week,” he said.
