The search to find the winners of the $600,000 Lotto strike four prize won is over with a person in Oxford coming forward last week.
The winners of the ticket who want to remain anonymous cashed in their ticket at a shop in Oxford North Canterbury last week.
Paper Plus Oamaru sold the winning ticket in their Father’s Day draw which was done on September 6.
There was hope that the ticket may have gone to someone local but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
Oamaru Paper Plus Lotto sales assistant Janine Jamieson said it was pleasing to have seen the ticket finally claimed.
“They didn’t come in here and claim it but we had the lotto rep in here on Friday and they said that someone in Oxford had claimed the prize.”
Mrs Jamieson said they were relieved the prize was claimed.
“It was pleasing to hear someone had come forward and claimed the prize we thought the ticket may have been lost.”
She said it was slightly disappointing someone in Oamaru didn’t claim it.
The ticket was one of two winning Lotto tickets purchased in Oamaru over a short period of time with the second a $200,000 prize which went to a local family, who were part of a group of five who won a spilt of the $1million prize.
An Auckland couple won half of the strike four Lotto prize.
