Anzac services are being held throughout the Waitaki district.
Medals and hats may be worn at all services. Medals of deceased service personnel may be worn by family members on their right-hand lapel.
TUESDAY, APRIL 24
Posy Laying Service: Oamaru Services Cemetery, 3.30pm. This is designed to show children the significance of Anzac Day and remember those who fought for our country. All welcome.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25
Dawn Service: Great War Memorial, Thames St, outside the Waitaki District Council offices, 6.30am. Wreaths will then be laid at the Oamaru Services Cemetery at 9am, followed by wreath laying at the Turikina Memorial.
Parade and Garden of Memories Civic Service: Starts at the South African War Memorial at 10.30am, parades to the Great War Memorial, then on to the Garden of Memories for the main service. Jeeps will be available for veterans who are unable to march. In the event of inclement weather, no parade will be held. A service only will be held in the Oamaru Opera House at 10.30am.
Alma War Memorial, 7.15am.
Pukeuri War Memorial, 8.30am.
Papakaio War Memorial, 9am.
Enfield Presbyterian Church, 9am.
Maheno, Kauru Hill, Kakanui, 9am. Gather at the Maheno School gates for a service before the parade.
Georgetown War Memorial, 10am.
Hampden War Memorial, 10.30am.
Livingstone Memorial, Livingstone-Duntroon Rd, 10.30am.
UPPER WAITAKI SERVICES
Hakataramea: A parade forms up on the main street at 6.20am and marches to the cenotaph.
Kurow Cemetery Gate: wreath laying, 8.15am.
Otekaieke Memorial Gate: poppies laid, 8.45am.
Duntroon Cenotaph: wreath laid, 9.15am.
Omarama Memorial: service, 11am.
EAST OTAGO SERVICES
Palmerston: Assemble for parade in Copinsha St, 8.30am. Service and wreath laying at the Palmerston Memorial Gates, 9am. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held in the DG Murray Hall. Following the service there will be a wreath laying at the South African Memorial, Ronaldsay St.
