Oamaru is set to host Celia Lashlie, who will be in town to speak as part of a Save the Children fundraiser.
The Waitaki branch of the organisation has arranged for Mrs Lashlie to be the event’s guest speaker.
Mrs Lashlie is well-known for books she has written and talks she has given around the country.
Save the Children Waitaki Branch president Shirley Compton said it was great to have Mrs Lashlie come to speak.
“She is fantastic. I have heard nothing but fabulous things from a variety of people who have heard her speak,” she said.
Mrs Lashlie will speak about the lives led by women at the centre of at risk families in New Zealand.
Mrs Compton said Mrs Lashlie would be a great speaker for the public to hear.
“She is just a wonderful person who is fantastic to listen to and has a lot of insight into many different things.”
Mrs Compton said it was pleasing to have someone of Mrs Lashlie’s calibre coming to talk.
“This will be an inspiring and thought-provoking evening. Please come and support us in our endeavours to help children at need,” she said.
The talk is being held at the Fenwick School Hall on September 3 at 7.30pm. People can buy their tickets from Paper Plus or The Save the Children shop.
