Christmas cheer is coming to Oamaru’s North End.

A family day out will be held this Sunday at Roberts Park, on the corner of Thames Highway and Frome St.

North End business owners Raelene Guthrie, of Razors Edge, and Zelie Allan, who owns Style 365 and Revamp Clothing, have been planning the event since last Christmas.

“We wanted to put something on for the community to say thanks for their support,” Mrs Allan said.

“It’s good to have something out at the North End.”

The event, from 11.30am to 2.30pm on Sunday, would be “a day for the children”, Mrs Guthrie said.

Several other North End businesses have also given their support to the event, and will be open on the day.

There will plenty of activities, including a talent quest, dog show, baby contest and a visit from Father Christmas.

Mrs Allan and Mrs Guthrie said they hoped it would become an annual event.
