Farm safety plan workshops soon

Farmers needing to set up health and safety plans for their properties can learn how at a workshop next month.
Beef and Lamb New Zealand is offering Farm Safety Management System workshops throughout the central South Island. There is one in Waimate on Tuesday, March 15, and another in Oamaru the following day.
The national body, funded by farmer levies, is urging employers to take along their whole farm team.
Attendees will be given a free copy of a safety management system that they can apply to their own property. The system, developed by Beef and Lamb’s safety partner QSI (NZ) Ltd, is endorsed by WorkSafe New Zealand.
WorkSafe representatives will be at each workshop to answer questions and assure participants the information meets regulatory requirements.
The system, designed for New Zealand conditions, was easy to put into practice, Beef and Lamb said. Regular updates would be publicised and changes made available for farmers to download.
Each workshop runs from 10am to 3pm, with lunch provided. Places are limited, so anyone interested in attending should register by emailing Theresa.laws@beeflambnz.com
