The Waitaki Rural Fire Force is holding its annual trail ride fundraiser at Trotters Gorge this weekend.
The event, held for the past six years by the Waitaki Rural Fire Force, has always attracted plenty of interest and Rural Fire officer Matt Henderson hopes this will be the case again.
‘We would love to see at least 400-500 over the weekend,” Mr Henderson said.
It was decided that a car wash and raffles would not be enough to raise the required amount for new equipment, so they thought the trail ride would be a good option.
“Money raised will go towards the purchase of specialised firefighting equipment in addition to that supplied by the Rural Fire Authority,” Mr Henderson said.
They hope to raise $10,000.
“The cost is $50 per day or $80 for both, track is suitable for two-wheelers, quads and side-by-side buggies. We would like to thank Blakely Pacific for letting us use their forest and to Ian and Wendy Ritchie and Dave Fleming for the use of their properties.”
The trail ride will be held at Horse Range Road and Walsh Road Trotters Gorge, Palmerston.
