The North Otago Horticultural Society will celebrate its annual spring show next month.

North Otago Horticultural Society chairwoman Marion Partridge is looking forward to the celebration.

“We hope it will be a very good show,” she said.

The show will take place at the Scottish Hall on September 29 and 30.

At the same time, the North Otago Orchid Society will host its spring show in the hall.

Each year, the Horticultural Society hosts spring, summer and autumn shows.

“Those are our main activities,” Mrs Partridge said.

The group’s membership fluctuates between 30 and 40.

“It’s a not a big society but we have some very loyal members,” she said.

Although she could not remember when exactly she joined, Mrs Partridge believed she had been with the society for at least 30 years.

Her husband, Reg Partridge, who serves as secretary, only joined the society about seven years ago.

“I didn’t think it was a very good idea when I started but I’m thriving on it now,” he said.

The couple are growing their own plants, which they plan to exhibit at shows later in the year.

The fellowship among group members was the best part about the club, Mrs Partridge said. She hoped the society would continue for many more years.

“We don’t have a crystal ball and we can’t look that far ahead, but we’re always welcoming new members.”

While the group mostly consisted of older members, it was not uncommon to see younger people join the group, she said.Sneakers StoreAir Jordan III (3) Retro Black/ Cement – Now Available
