Mamma Mia! It’s going to be a massive show at the Oamaru Opera House next month. In the build-up to the major production by Musical Theatre Oamaru, the Oamaru Mail is introducing you to the 12 leading cast members, two by two. Today we present the fourth pair.
Performer: Tiernach Farrell
Character’s name: Harry.
Occupation: Teacher at St Kevin’s College.
Experience: I’ve been up front in one show. I’ve been around the stage, on stage in the ensemble, and backing vocals once or twice. My son and daughter (Fergus and Molly Farrell) have been on stage. Neither is involved in musicals now. What I like best about being in shows is getting out of the house.
If you entered New Zealand’s Got Talent, what would you perform?: Something folksy, maybe Neil Young or Bob Dylan. I play the guitar in a friendly situation. I’m available for weekends.
Performer: Alice Hore.
Character’s name: Tanya.
Occupation: Riverstone Larder manager.
Experience: I’ve been in shows since my teens in Ranfurly. Oklahoma! was my first show here, then I was in Cats and Chicago. Like most of the cast, the thing I like best about being in stage shows is the camaraderie. And being away from the fridge and out of the house. We’re an eclectic bunch of humans who might not meet otherwise.
If you entered New Zealand’s Got Talent, what would you perform?: I wouldn’t go in a talent quest. I don’t like to be judged. I just like to do stuff. I want to do good; I have no desire to be famous.
