Two Pink Ribbon gatherings are being held in Oamaru to raise funds for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
Kauru Hill Rural Women New Zealand is putting on a pink morning tea at the Presence on Harbour shop in the Victorian Precinct from 10am on Wednesday. For $5, everyone is invited to partake of pink foods made by group members. The full entry fee will be given to the foundation. Shop owner Dawn Brown, a member of the Kauru Hill organisation, will also donate a percentage of all sales during the event.
This was the second year Kauru Hill has taken part in the Pink Ribbon campaign, president Janice Burnett said.
The North Otago Irrigation Company is hosting morning tea on Thursday from 10am to 11am. A long table will be laden with pink treats plus tea and coffee. The $15 ticket price will contribute to the company’s aim of raising $750 for the foundation. A portion will also go to the Maheno Home and School Committee that is helping with preparations.
“We wanted to do our bit to support an organisation that’s funding research to save women’s lives as we have all lost someone to this,” North Otago Irrigation Company staff member Irene Sparks said.
