An Otago organisation is calling for spare and unwanted pyjamas throughout North Otago.

Juanita Willems, from Foster Hope Otago, believes there is a growing need for pyjamas among foster children around the region.

“Sadly, there is a need and the need is increasing,” she said.

The organisation has started its annual Pyjama Run collection campaign.

The aim is to collect up to 1000 pairs of pyjamas for children who live in foster care.

Foster Hope Otago is a non-profit organisation that supports children entering foster care with backpacks that contain personal hygiene and comfort items.

The pairs of pyjamas collected throughout North Otago would be donated to foster children who lived in the region, Mrs Willems said.

“The commitment from us is that the items collected locally will stay local.”

This will be the second year the project has been held in North Otago.

Among companies supporting the cause in Oamaru is Southern Wide Real Estate, whose staff last week dressed up in onesies to back the campaign. People wanting to donate pyjamas can deliver them to a drop-off box outside the Southern Wide Real Estate office in Thames St.jordan release dateKamala Harris’ Stepdaughter Ella Emhoff Wows in Coat at Inauguration News
