The Waitaki Autism Trust’s Quiz Night at North Star on Monday night was a huge success, says chairwoman Yanina Muriel.
More than 100 people attended the event, which was a fundraiser for the Waitaki Autism Trust, to assist them in providing services to Oamaru children with autism.
Waitaki Autism Trust raised more than $1300 on the night, an amount that Mrs Muriel said exceeded her expectations.
“We are so happy with how much was raised; it’s fantastic to see the community is in behind us so much and we are truly thankful for their support.”
Mrs Muriel said the quiz night on Monday was only the start of many fundraising events in the works for the Waitaki Autism Trust.
“We have many more fundraisers lined up.”
There were some great prizes on offer and Mrs Muriel said she was thankful for the support of businesses in the community.
“We had some great prizes donated and we will certainly remember to thank all the businesses for their ongoing support and also the North Star for providing the premises.”
There were three teams from the Dunedin and Palmerston areas that were unable to make it through, due to the weather which was slightly disappointing, Mrs Muriel said.
