Things are going smoothly for the Sustainable Skills Summer School which gets under way in Oamaru tomorrow.
This year there are close to 70 activities on offer, with all but two of the courses run by local people, and summer school co-ordinator Phill Kay said he was pleased with the response so far.
“It’s pleasing to see Oamaru are getting in behind this summer school and next year we hope it will be bigger again. The most popular event so far is the DIY Funerals – about 26 people have signed up to do that.”
Mr Kay said Oamaru people are really good at getting behind events.
“The people here are fantastic and always want to help out.”
The summer school runs from January 24 until February 8 at various locations around Oamaru.
People can sign up for the Sustainable Skills Summer School by grabbing a brochure from Organic Larder or the Oamaru Public Library, or from the website www.sustainableoamaru.org.nz
