Santa Claus is coming to town tomorrow.

Despite many Christmas parades being cancelled this year, Oamaru’s is going ahead – and it will celebrate more than just Christmas.

Organiser Anton Roswell said this year’s parade was all about community, and it would be a celebration of the entire Waitaki district.

Crowd favourite floats and entertainment would be back again, there would be “lots and lots” of lollies and Mr Claus had made time in his busy schedule to visit Oamaru for the event, Mr Roswell said.

There would also be “a couple of surprises”.

“I always have, and work on, surprises to bring in every year,” he said.

It was being held a week later than usual, and people were going to plenty of effort to put together a float his year, he said.

The annual parade attracts thousands of spectators, and a film crew would be there this year to film the Pasifika community for a documentary.

The parade starts at 11am at McDonald’s and finishes at the Oamaru Christmas tree in Lower Thames St.bridgemediaGOLF NIKE SHOES
