The Oamaru District Court was held at the Oamaru Opera House yesterday and was presided over by Judge Joanna Maze.
Tony Russell Bulling, 31, of Kurow, was convicted, fined $750, ordered to pay medical expenses of $97.75 and analyst fees of $93, and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for six months, for driving with an excess blood alcohol level of 224Mg on Gards Rd on April 6, 2014.
Arthur Luke Lamborn, 33, labourer, of Shirley, was convicted and fined $250 for careless use of a motor vehicle after doing a burnout in a carpark on Waterfront Rd on February 15, 2014. He had been in Oamaru for a wedding and said he was showing off.
Zane Ryan Sawyers, 20, freezing worker, of Oamaru, was convicted, sentenced to 40 hours’ community work, and disqualified from driving for six months for driving whilst disqualified on Melcombe St in Ashburton on March 8, 2012.
Vincent Arthur Smith, 21, cheese maker, of Oamaru, was convicted, fined $650, and disqualified from driving for six months, for sustained loss of traction on Loch Laird Rd on January 11, 2014. He had been doing burnouts with friends in what he thought was an organised event and when he went to leave he accelerated the vehicle causing sustained loss of traction for about 12 seconds.
Stuart Rowan White, 53, of Palmerston, was remanded in custody until June 25 for allegedly causing the death of a motorist during an accident on State Highway One on October 20, 2913.
