Oamaru’s temporary court should be completed early next week, Courts Minister Chester Borrows announced yesterday.
Work has been underway on the temporary court building, which is located at the Oamaru Licensing Trust’s car park behind the Brydone Hotel on Humber St, since the beginning of June.
Mr Borrows said the completion of the facility has been delayed because work on the installation of the building’s IT network has taken longer than originally planned.
There were a few final touches that needed to be finished which included the digging of a trench, the installation of an underground network cable and overall IT testing.
“The Ministry is working with the vendor and, weather permitting, hopes to have the work completed early next week.”
The building will be officially opened once the IT systems are up and running.
The date of the opening is yet to be confirmed.
