An appeal against a jail sentence for the tourist driver who caused the death of Oamaru five-year-old Ruby Marris will be heard in the High Court at Dunedin on Monday.
Jing Cao (32), of China, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment when he was convicted in the Dunedin District Court on June 9 of dangerous driving causing the death of Ruby, after he crashed into the Marris family’s car near Moeraki on February 21.
On June 10, Cao lodged an appeal against his jail sentence in the Christchurch High Court.
