A 17-year-old Oamaru man appeared in the Dunedin District Court on Wednesday facing charges of aggravated robbery, burglary and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
Matthew Robert Johnston was arrested after being found at an associate’s address on Clyde St at 2.30pm on Tuesday following a police investigation into an incident at Meadowbank Dairy on Monday night.
Johnston had allegedly entered the dairy armed with a knife and demanded cigarette papers and filters.
Oamaru police officers began their investigation and police dogs were called from Timaru to help but were unable to locate him.
Johnston was also charged with burglary and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle after an incident at an Oamaru address on Sunday night.
He was remanded without plea to reappear in the Oamaru District Court on February 11 on all charges.
