If your lights have been flickering over the last few days, there is no need to worry – it is just network tests.
Lights have been flickering around the region over the past few days as part of tests being done by Transpower for the system running between the North and South Islands.
Transpower communications manager Rebecca Wilson said they had been testing the HVDC system, which ran between both islands, over the last eight or nine months.
As part of the new system roll-out, they had been running extensive high voltage tests over the last few days, which would have been the cause of the flicker lights, she said.
Network Waitaki operations manager David Paterson said these blips were nothing to worry about – some people may need to reset their clocks, but nothing more.
The tests are due to be completed in the next few weeks.
