A young rugby player who died when he was thrown from the vehicle he was travelling in with five other team-mates has been remembered as an “ultimate team man” by his coach.
Tributes to 23-year-old Jarrad Blackler have been pouring in via social media, after he died in Dunedin Hospital yesterday morning from injuries sustained in a crash in the early hours of Sunday.
Mr Blackler, a former Waitaki Boys’ High School pupil who was playing his first season of club rugby for the Kurow Rugby Club after previously representing the Mackenzie Rugby Club, worked as a shepherd at Haldon Station, in the Mackenzie Country area.
