Comedian Ben Hurley is looking forward to his first show in Oamaru next month.
Mr Hurley will be performing at the Brydone Hotel on February 22.
The comedian said he had not performed in Oamaru before but was excited to be the town where he had stopped a few times and been to some really nice cafes.
“It is one of the few places I’ve never performed in.”
He liked to take the show to all sorts of places, and while he is from a small town himself he has to live in a big city for his career, so enjoyed doing both.
“I try to mix it up a bit.”
The night should get a few laughs out of people as it would regular stand-up comedy, Mr Hurley said.
“I’m very much looking forward to coming to Oamaru.”
Mr Hurley is currently working with New Zealand Cricket and travelling with the team as a match day host, he said.
It was really good fun as he was a big cricket fan and he enjoyed trying to get the crowd going, Mr Hurley said.
The comedian said after that he would be focusing most of his efforts on the Comedy Festival where he would be pulling together work from previous years.
Comedian Nick Rado would also be performing as a special guest on the night.
The event will be held at the Brydone Hotel at 8pm, with doors opening at 7pm, on February 22.
