`The Extravaganza” is coming to Oamaru this weekend.
A touring gypsy fair will fill the grassed area between the Victorian Precinct and harbour on October 15 and 16 from 9am to 5pm. Spokeswoman LeeAnne Scott, otherwise known as Hipsy, said The Extravaganza comprised a community of travelling families who “live in our tiny homes and travel the highways and byways of both the North and South Islands”. They combined their skills as crafts people and entertainers to offer a market full of stalls and activities, food and music. It includes face-painting and children’s rides, clown and puppet shows, hula-hoop workshops, tarot and palm readings, herbal remedies, natural perfumes, jewellery, crystals, massage
and revamped clothing. `Throughout the day we have talented musicians playing sweet tunes for your ears, with kids’ shows running throughout the day,” Hipsy said.
`We aim to be a sustainable event, using all compostable and recyclable packaging to help reduce waste, working towards a `greener’ event.”
