Hundreds of people braved the cold weather that has been hammering the South Island to come to Oamaru at the weekend.
North Otago was busy with several events being held including the National Poultry Show (hosted by the Oamaru Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society), the Oamaru Tap Dancing Association’s annual competition, a Harley Owners Group gathering, a midwinter Christmas, the Scottish Society of Oamaru’s annual ball and the Oamaru Jockey Club’s Cup Day.
Oamaru Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society secretary Trevor Hill said hundreds of people came along to view the 1659 birds entered in the competition, which was held from Friday to Sunday.
