MASTER CHEFS: Jacob Verdonk, of North Star, and Bee King, Brydone Hotel head chef, with excellence awards received for their lamb and beef dishes.
North Star and the Brydone entered dishes in a nationwide Beef and Lamb competition and were rewarded with excellence.
North Star manager Cathy Maaka said it was fantastic to be recognised for the award.
“We are really pleased with the awards and the hard work that’s gone into it, not only by the chefs, but also the rest of the kitchen staff.”
Mrs Maaka said the awards highlighted the strong competition in Oamaru.
“There are so many quality restaurants here in Oamaru and having such strong competition is a fantastic thing.”
Mrs King said they were really pleased to have won the award.
“It shows all the hard work everyone puts in.”
Both the Brydone and North Star are run by the Oamaru Licensing Trust.
