PRACTISING: Musician Nathanael Newton blows his trumpetĀ as the “Archbishop of Canterbury” Robin Harris looks at the Magna Carta ahead of the re-enactment they are doing on Monday to celebrate 800 years since it was signed.
Organiser Tani Newton said they wanted to do something to remember the day.
“It’s a big day and will be a massive celebration in England so we thought we’d support it even if it’s in a small way.”
They will hold a celebration at Takaro Park on Severn St on Monday at 4pm with a miniplay lasting about 10 minutes.
Drafted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, King John of England gave his assent to the charter at Runnymede, near Windsor, on June 15, 1214.
