More than 2000 people attended the launch of the Oamaru Pacific Charitable Trust at the Waitaki Girls’ High school hall on Friday evening.
Chairwoman Api Fifita said the event went very well and there was an outstanding turnout of people from all over the country including Auckland, Invercargill, Dunedin and Christchurch.
“We were really amazed by the turnout.” “For us, we felt so blessed.”
The event started about 30 minutes late because the plane of the quest of honour, the Minister of Pacific Peoples Peseta Sam Lotuliga, was delayed.
Other guests included Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher and Manukau East MP Jenny Salesa – New Zealand’s first Tongan MP.
