Proposed funding cuts to health services will mean Oamaru Hospital will get nearly $1.5 million less than it should this year, Waitaki District Health Services Ltd chairman George Berry says.
The Southern District Health Board (SDHB) recently announced a proposed 5% funding cut to rural hospital services, including the Waitaki District Health Services Ltd (WDHS) as part of its strategic plan.
Mr Berry said WDHS had sent a very detailed letter to the SDHB spelling out how the cuts will affect Oamaru Hospital’s services, following a meeting two weeks ago.
