While Oamaru was spared snow, other parts of the region weren’t so lucky.
Snow fell in the Waitaki Valley, at Kurow and Omarama, which forced the early closure of Waitaki Valley School.
Heavy snow caused chaos on the Lindis Pass, which was closed yesterday afternoon, as was State Highway 8 between Omarama and Fairlie.
According to the Metservice, morning rain is forecast for Oamaru today with showers expected from tomorrow until Monday.
