ALL-NIGHTER: Oamaru 15-year-olds (from left) Sarah McIntosh, Lily Dawning, Georgia Cairs, Ria Doppenberg and Emma Stevenson are getting ready for what might be Oamaru’s biggest sleepover.
The last two weeks has seen a huge surge in pupils registering teams for the Relay For Life, on March 28 and 29.
More than 600 people have already signed up to participate in the relay, during which they will spend the night at Awamoa Park to demonstrate their support.
Event co-ordinator Laura Heselwood said it had been “bonkers” in the past few days with pupils signing up because they knew it would be a fun night with their friends as well as a great challenge to walk through the night for a good cause.
There will be bands, food and fun activities, including a recycled fashion contest, giant conga, and onesie party, to keep everyone entertained.
Teams can still register by visiting www.relayforlife.org.nz or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
