Special treat for art lovers

Eight talented artists from the Dunedin School of Art will be exhibiting work at Oamaru’s Forrester Gallery over the next two months.

Peter Cleverley, a lecturer at the school and former curator of the Forrester Gallery, was helping current curator, Alice Lake-Hammond, unpack the painted works yesterday.

He said the artists were already widely recognised and each had contributed up to four pieces of art.

“Its a very high-calibre group that are contributing and a very diverse selection of work.”

Ms Lake-Hammond said the exhibition was all about strengthening relations between the gallery and the art school.

It is open daily to the public from Saturday through to August 24 from 10.30-4.30pm. All work is available for sale.

Those contributing are Michael Morley, Michael Greaves, Anita Desoto, Alexandra Kennedy, Graham Fletcher, Clive Humphreys, Colin Howes and Peter Cleverley.

PEOPLE MOVERS: Curator of the Forrester Gallery, Alice Lake-Hammond and Peter Cleverley, lecturer at the Dunedin School of Art, prepare to hang a painting by Anita Desoto entitled “Nearly Home” 2012 in readiness for the art school’s exhibition which opens to the public on Saturday. The painting is being exhibited courtesy of Milford Galleries, Dunedin.
