The family of World War 1 Victoria Cross winner Donald Forrester Brown, of Totara, are planning a reunion in Oamaru next year.
Just exactly when the reunion will be is undecided, but it is likely to fall around easter or Anzac Day or later in the year to fit in with the service being held to commemorate Donald Forrester Brown (Also known as Don) and the 100 years since he died on October 1 1916.
Robert Brown is in possession of the Victoria Cross that his great-uncle receivied during the war and is looking forward to the reunion not only to remember Don Brown but also Don’s father Robert Brown, who lived in Oamaru in the early 1900s.
