Renowned Moeraki seafood restaurant, Fleur’s Place, has been listed as one of 13 top New Zealand restaurants in an international food book.
The restaurant was chosen as an entry into the book 1001 Restaurants You Must Experience Before You Die, which has just been released on October 6.
Fleur Sullivan, who set up Fleur’s Place 12 years ago, said she was pleased to be chosen for the book because every business needs a little bit of encouragement and recognition.
“It is wonderful.”
She has never tried to be a top international restaurant; what she is more interested in is using produce from the region and doing the best she can with it.
“I think I’m pretty fortunate because of the fish and the location.
“The proximity to the sea and the food is what gives me an edge.”
She enjoys making the most of the food available and working with like-minded people.
“What you see is what you get.
“It’s naturally good food and it’s what we do.
“To get recognition for that is special.”
The other New Zealand restaurants listed include Auckland eateries Soul Bar & Bistro, The Engine Room, The Sugar Club, The French Café, Depot Eatery & Oyster Bar and Sideart, and Wellington restaurants Ortega Fish Shack and Logan Brown.
Other restaurants on the list are Black Barn & Bistro, Hawke’s Bay; Herzog Restaurant, Marlborough; Pegasus Bay Restaurant; and Waipara and Fishbone Bar & Grill, Queenstown.
