Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean is comfortable no Southern District Health Board (SDHB) representatives attended Sunday’s rally against funding cuts to Oamaru Hospital but Labour health spokesman and Dunedin North MP has other views.

Sunday’s rally, which featured a march from Tyne St to Takaro Park attracted about 2500 locals, many of whom carried signs and banners opposed to SDHB’s proposed 5% funding cut to Oamaru Hospital.

Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher, Oamaru ward councillor Melanie Tavendale and Waitaki District Health Services deputy chairman Ken Scott all spoke at the rally, while several councillors, Mrs Dean, Mr Clark and WDHS director Ian Hurst attended.
