Work on a new Hakataremea Valley irrigation scheme taking, water from the Waitaki River and benefiting five farmer shareholders, is expected to start soon.
Graham Hay, chairman of the Haka Valley Irrigation Company, said the scheme should be up and running by April next year and would bring enormous benefits.
“Having reliable water will be phenomenal,” he said. “It gives certainty.”
