The Oamaru Churches Foodbank has been boosted by $500, thanks to the generosity of the ANZ Bank Oamaru.

The cheque was handed to Archdeacon Bernard Wilkinson by Blair Middlemass and Sue Lawrence, of the ANZ Oamaru.

Mr Middlemass said the cheque was an annual gift by the bank to a worthy cause.

"Instead of giving corporate gifts to our clients, this is our way of helping those less fortunate at this time of the year," he said.

Archdeacon Wilkinson was delighted to accept the cheque.

"This is another example of the extreme generosity of Oamaru and North Otago," he said.

"Thank you very much to the ANZ Bank."
