Network Waitaki Waitaki District Sports Awards nominations are due to close Friday for the awards night at the Oamaru Opera house on March 11, 2013.

There have been several changes to the awards format, the most notable is the separation of the junior male and female athletes and emerging talent award for pupils in Year 8 added to the line-up.

Sport Waitaki Kate Cartwright said this format better reflected the nominations, as there is a large number of junior athletes succeeding on the regional, national and international stage. Changes to the junior awards will see the merger of Sportsman and Sportswoman into one category.

North Otago Sports Bodies (NOSB) President Peter Simpson is encouraging all sports organisations to take the time to nominate athletes, coaches and administrators. All finalists will receive two complimentary tickets to the awards.

For the first time, nominations can be completed online at www.sportotago.co.nz.
