Round 10 of the Borton Cup concluded on Saturday with contrasting moods as Union maintained their 10-point lead whilst Oamaru were unable to field a team.

The winless Choccos have struggled for numbers in recent weeks culminating in skipper Matt Murphy withdrawing his side from their scheduled clash with Valley at Weston Park.

"We really need to work hard the next few weeks and try and get a win," said Murphy.

"We've got to get in to the schools over the off season and try to attract some players, but it's hard to get people interested in a club that's not winning."

Murphy's side will be hosted by Albion in next weekend's penultimate round, and the Mungas will be looking to bounce back after falling to Union on Saturday in a loss that sees them level with Valley on 50 points.

Union's seventh win of the campaign puts them on 80 points followed by Waitaki Boys' High School on 70 after their victory over SKC.

St Kevin's now sit fifth on the ladder after the disappointing loss and will be intent on upsetting the holders in next weekend's clash at King George Park to keep their bid for semifinal spot alive.
