Christmas tidings from Key and Dean
Prime Minister John Key and Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean send Christmas wishes to Oamaru Mail readers.
"I would like to wish all Oamaru Mail readers a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Christmas is a wonderful time in New Zealand, a time to reflect on the year that's been, to spend some time with family and friends, and to enjoy the very best of New Zealand. Have a great time over the Christmas break - be safe and all the best for 2013." Right Honourable John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand.
"With the Christmas and New Year festivities and holidays looming, it is perhaps timely to reflect on the past year. Few of us remain unaware of the almost worldwide fiscal debacles that dominate most of the world's economies. In turn, those woes continue to affect our own incomes, however, we do remain far better off than many countries. From a local perspective, life here in the Waitaki moves steadily at its own rate. Work to replace the Kurow bridges starts next year, our children continue to achieve in both sport and education, our town remains vibrant thanks to activities such as Steampunk, the Victorian celebrations and national conferences, while all around us, private businesses and citizens win awards and grow in stature. I wish you and yours all the very best for Christmas and the New Year. Stay safe and enjoy the company of your families and friends and, if you do have a spare moment, give greetings and cheer to those neighbours who may this season be alone. God bless." Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean.
