The Southern Sub Club tennis competition fell victim to the weekend's unpredictable weather with Hampden and Waimanui's clash being rained off.

The other tie of round six produced some tightly contested matches with Herbert taking a 7-2 win over Weston.

The face-off between Jeremy Ferguson and Josh Dalziel was a tantalisingly close affair with Dalziel eventually winning 9-8.

Herbert's Robin Jamieson commended his team's efforts.

"They all played well.

"The best game of the round was between Jeremy (Ferguson) and Josh (Dalziel), which went to a tie breaker and Josh eventually won it," he said.

"Levi Ewing played well. It may have been his first singles win, but everybody played well."

Club tennis will now be put on the backburner until late January with the North Otago Closed/Southern Sub championships beginning on December 15 followed by the North Otago Open Tournament on January 12.
