Drink driver was unlawfully in a family member's car

A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly driving with an excess breath-alcohol level of 1004mcg yesterday morning.

The local male also unlawfully took a family member's vehicle. He was bailed to appear in the Oamaru District Court.

At 5.45am yesterday police received a report of an assault with intention to injure. A man was allegedly assaulted by another male while he was asleep in bed. Sergeant Wayne Brew said they were following lines of inquiry.

Two juveniles were arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning for unlawfully taking a car from Caledonian Rd.

The silly season has arrived and Mr Brew reminds locals to remain responsible hosts.

"Last night there was a 21st party at a clubrooms which was still going at eight this morning," said Mr Brew yesterday.

"I want to remind people to host responsibility and look after your guests."

Mr Brew said the host of the 21st party was asleep on a table.

At 8.30pm on Saturday night a 16 and 17-year-old allegedly broke into a vehicle on Thames St.

Two 19-year-olds were arrested outside Westpac Bank after allegedly breaching the liquor ban area. They will both appear in the Oamaru District Court next month.

Three local men, aged 17, 18 and 19, were arrested at 6.30pm on Saturday night after an alleged assault.

They were all given pre-charge warnings.
