One of Oamaru's landmarks is being offered for sale.

The Oamaru Pie Cart, a converted bus which was located around Oamaru between the late 1950s to the mid-1970s, now sits on a section at Tokarahi.

It is being offered for sale by owner Margaret King.

The pie cart was initially outside the old Post Office, (which is now the Last Post in Thames St). The owner/operator at that time, Vince Hannigan, replaced the original canvas-sided pie cart in 1956 with a converted bus, which was driven on to the current site.

The bus is the second pie cart, which was last owned by Oamaru man Colin Sandri. After its days as a pie cart, the vehicle was converted into a dwelling.

According to Mrs King, the vehicle, which has been refurbished into a warm and cosy home, is complete with telephone and broadband, a Sky dish, power and a water supply.

"The only reason I am selling is because it is time to move on," she said. "I have happily lived here for six years and am interested in receiving inquiries over $79,000."
