Nominations are open for the 2012 Network Waitaki - Waitaki District Sports Awards.

North Otago Sports Bodies and Sport Waitaki announced changes to the awards format this year have put in place separate categories for junior male and female athletes and an emerging talent award for pupils in Year 8 has also been added.

Sport Waitaki co-ordinator Kate Cartwright said the new format better reflected the nominations received as a large number of junior athletes were succeeding in their chosen sports on the regional, national and international stages.

Changes to the junior awards will merge sportsman and sportswoman into one category.

North Otago Sports Bodies (NOSB) president Peter Simpson is encouraging all sports organisations to take the time to nominate their successful athletes, coaches and administrators.

All finalists will receive two complementary tickets to the awards to be held at the Oamaru Opera House on March 11, 2013.

Another first this year is that nominations can be completed online at www.sportotago.co.nz
