Winner fond of furry lip
Two-time Man of Movember Nigel Harris says the secret to cultivating a great moustache is Marmite.
For the month of November he smeared the black gold on his face every morning.
Mr Harris was on Friday crowned Man of Movember at Fat Sally's Restaurant and Bar.
While Friday was the last official day of Movember, Mr Harris said he would not be shaving his off. He had become so fond of his bushy upper lip that he had decided to grow a beard and not shave for 12 months.
Plenty of Oamaru blokes turned out in support of the campaign to raise awareness of men's health issues.
Peter Mayson took the title of "Greyest Mo", "Most Pitiful Mo" was won by Foh Loony, "Bushiest Mo" went to Nigel Harris, "Best Grippers" belonged to Tane Rogers, the "Cheesiest Mo" award was won by Matt Smith, Josh Lewis took out the "Kooser Award" and Plunket Electrical won the best team effort.
Raising more than $1000 for Mental Health of New Zealand and the Cancer Society, Wee Jock was the top fundraiser in the Oamaru competition.
Port FM regional Oamaru breakfast announcer and sales manager Anton Roswell said Oamaru men showed their skills and craftsmanship when it came to growing the perfect moustache.
"It's a fun sort of thing, to raise money for a good cause," he said.
