Transport firm and driver fined for falsifying records

A transport company and one of its drivers have been fined for falsifying logbook records.

Investigations were launched following a fatal collision at Shag Point near Palmerston in October where a motorbike went underneath a truck.

In Oamaru District Court yesterday, Dynes Transport Tapanui was convicted and fined $1300 for allowing a vehicle to be used by Gerald Rodney Phillips when the logbook was false on two occasions in October. Phillips, 47, of Gore, was also convicted and fined $700 for producing false logbook records and exceeding working hours on October 28 and between October 18 and 19.
